Vinson BSc. mother of two and an Australian
scientist who is passionate about developing a pure
mineral make up that produces flawless

Terri is a biochemistry and immunology major member
of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and
clinical educator of one of Melbourne's
leading
skin care clinics. Having previously
formulated her own pharmaceutical grade skin care
range she wanted to extend the benefits of her skin
care into natural make-up. She had become
disillusioned with the choices available to
Australian women and set out on a mission to develop

Is Synergie Mineral Makeup?
Synergie Mineral makeup uses naturally
occurring mineral and botanical products. It is recommended by dermatologists
and medical professionals to women with sensitive skin, rosacea, post
operatively, following laser and other procedures because of its intrinsic skin
soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a powder makeup of finely
milled minerals. It can provide either sheer or opaque coverage, depending on
the formulation and application. However, it still allows natural skin radiance
to show through, so you don't get the dreaded “mask” look. Unlike traditional
makeup that suffocates the skin, minerals actually sit on the skin like
overlapping fish scales- allowing toxins to be released and oxygen and moisture
to enter the skin. Synergie Mineral makeup is free of any synthetic fragrance
and preservatives. Because minerals cannot support bacterial growth, so there is
no danger of spoilage, thus it needs no potentially harmful preservatives. It is

Is
all mineral make-up the same?
No. When choosing a pure mineral make up you must
ask the following questions about ingredients:
1. Is the formula free of talc? This is
inexpensive filler used to ‘bulk up’ the product. It
also gives the makeup a chalky appearance. Talc has
also been linked to ovarian cancer
2. Does
the loose powder contain sufficient Zinc oxide
to provide high levels of protection against ageing
UVA and burning UVB rays?
3. Is the
formulation free of potentially harmful bismuth
oxychloride. Bismuth is a heavy metal that is
chemically similar to arsenic. This ingredient is a
by-product of lead refining and causes the minerals
to sit heavily the skin. It is a known irritant and
cause of rashes, breakouts and skin itching. This is
particularly evident when the wearer is sweating.
4. Is the formula free of potentially harmful
preservatives (parabens). Parabens have been
linked to hormonal imbalances, accelerated ageing
and breast cancer. It is an inexpensive preservative
used in many cosmetics and skin care products.
Alternatives include grapefruit seed extract and
many essential oils. Since minerals do not harbour
bacteria, parabens are not necessary as mineral make
up ingredients.
5. Is the formula free of
artificial dyes and FD&C colours? FD&C colours
are derived from petroleum based coal tar. (Red40
has been linked to breast cancer)
6. Is
the formula free on petrolatum based mineral oils
which produce a suffocating effect on the skin?
